To HUSKY Members:
The HUSKY program is going through some changes in the way health benefits are coordinated. Specifically, we have added two health plans, while two others are leaving the program. Your benefits will stay the same, but you will have the option of joining a new health plan – or staying with the Community Health Network of Connecticut.
HUSKY A will be changing two of the plans that currently provide health services. BlueCare Family Plan and the Traditional Medicaid Program will no longer be offered as options, while Aetna Better Health and AmeriChoice by United Healthcare have been added. HUSKY B will no longer have BlueCare Family Plan and has added the same two new plans. Community Health Network of Connecticut will be remaining in both HUSKY A and B.
The process of switching plans is happening gradually. It began in mid-August for HUSKY members in Middlesex County, continued in Litchfield, New Haven and Tolland Counties in September and will finish in Fairfield, Hartford, New London and Windham Counties in December. During this time, HUSKY A and B members will receive a notice telling you when the new plans will be available in your county. Plenty of time will be given for the plan changes and the notices will include information on how to make the change.
At this time, plan changes are voluntary and HUSKY members wishing to wait before changing health plans can remain in the current health plan for now. In other words, you can elect to stay in BlueCare Family Plan or Traditional Medicaid if you wish, until late November. By the same token, you can elect to stay in Community Health Network of Connecticut (this health plan is not leaving the program). If you have any questions about this change, you may contact the HUSKY Program at 1-877-CT-HUSKY (1-877-284-8759).
The other change to both HUSKY A and B involves the dental benefit. Beginning September 1, 2008, dental benefits are being managed by a company called BeneCare. BeneCare can be reached by calling 1–866–420–2924. BeneCare will coordinate your family’s dental care benefits.
